Hydrant Flushing to Begin April 15 POSTPONED
fire hydrant

Every year the City flushes hydrants to remove stale water from line-ends where manganese, iron, and soda ash can accumulate. When a flush is done, it all gets stirred up, and water lines throughout town can end up with brown water, which can be cleared by running a tap for 1-2 minutes. The flushing process is done between the hours of 11 PM and 6 AM, and takes about a week.

This year's flush will begin the night of Monday, April 15 and continue each night, through the morning of Friday, April 19. Residents and businesses are encouraged to run their water in the morning to clear any residue from the flushing.
