Salmon Enhancement

 

 

 

Salmon have been a part of Depoe Bay's history for many years. The Salmon Enhancement Commission, which meets quarterly, actively looks after the hatching and well-being of the fry that are raised every year before being released into the wild to fend for themselves, and hopefully return in following years to reproduce in local waters. The public is invited to participate in the annual fin-clipping event held every July before the fry are released. Every year, the fin clipping makes around 20,000 Coho salmon eligible for future harvest in the sport fishery.
